RUTH ON WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Ruth emphasizes the importance of understanding priorities in different seasons of life to navigate work-life balance. As a parent, she blocks time in her diary to pick up her toddler from nursery, ensuring she maintains a balance between work and family. For mental health, Ruth finds solace in moments of stillness and reflection, either early in the morning or late at night. Physical exercise, especially workouts, also plays a crucial role in maintaining her mental well-being. This approach allows her to manage stress and stay grounded amidst her responsibilities.

RUTH ON OVERCOMING CAREER CHALLENGES

One of Ruth’s significant challenges was dealing with a micro-aggressive manager. Despite initially questioning her sensitivity, Ruth’s concerns were validated by a colleague’s observations. She documented real-time evidence of the manager’s behavior and eventually left for a promotion at another firm. Ruth’s resilience and authenticity helped her maintain her mental health and integrity during this challenging period. Her experience underscores the importance of staying true to oneself and advocating for respectful and equitable treatment in the workplace.

THE COVID YEARS HAD A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON MY LEADERSHIP STYLE. NEARLY LOSING THE DEAREST TWO PEOPLE TO ME (MY MUM AND MY HUSBAND) HELPED ME PUT LIFE INTO PERSPECTIVE, MAKING ME MORE ACCOMMODATING AND EMPATHETIC
